Don't be so offended... I am his mom, of course I think he is magnificent.
My little munchkin is now 10 months old. I was really good about posting a blog for him on a monthly basis but after about 7 months I just stopped. Shame on me. 10 months though, entails a lot of changes. Let me catch you up.
The kid is practically walking. He is continuously standing up and falling down -it's his own little bum bruising game. It's quite entertaining and he giggles when he lets go and takes the plunge backward. You can see that little devious twinkle in his eye knowing that as soon as he is able to let go and take those steps alone he is just going to take off, run for the kitchen, open the cupboards and throw all the flour out of the container onto the floor. He has this little walker that my mom bought him for Easter and he instantly grabbed a hold and started to walk with it. It completely blew me away. Life as I knew it is over. Repeat Over!
The journey has just begun.
Fynn, is so stinking cute. He's had two hair cuts now. Jeremiah has done a pretty good job with the shaver. It's truly amazing how fast his noggin' produces hair. I think its almost time for another spiffying up. Funny, this last hair cut Jeremiah accidentally gave Fynn some flash back to the 90's lines above his right ear. It was the combination of Fynn being too fidgety and Jeremiah being too close.
Fynn loves, loves, loves bananas. I can't blame him. All the baby food that has banana mixed in them are like miniature smoothies. Yummy. Fynn also has been exposed to meat in a jar. There is no real word to describe the facial contortions that he displays after a big bite of chicken and pear. The munchkin has 4 teeth and uses them to chomp on Kix. He uses his index finger to wrangle one out of the container, it eventually gets stuck to his hand and then as he pulls it forward towards his face it does one of three things: sticks to his face, drops to the floor or miraculously makes it into his mouth. It's been really fun to watch him work on his coordination and see him really try to figure out how all these different parts can work together. Everyday is a new experience for him-it's great!
He is just growing up so fast. Such a little man. He knows the song pat-a-cake (clapping and all) and how to say bye-bye. Of course his version comes out a little babblely but it's so sweet to see him wave his arm up and down and bubble out a "B" noise. He also has this incredible gurgling scream that he has been practicing, mostly in church during the sermon. He recently has found himself in the nursery as the looks we get from other patrons aren't all that gracious. I personally, find it funny and cute but I know no one else does. At least I recognize that, right?
The kid is just so sweet. He recently started to lay his head on my chest when he is really tired. He'll look at me through the corner of his eye as if to make sure I am paying attention and thinking he is cuter then ever; then he will lift his head up and lay it back down again. So.stinkin'.adorable. It's my absolute favorite when he is cuddly. It isn't that often so I relish in it when he finally decides to be extra sweet. I love when he is sleepy and snuggles in close, sucks his thumb (left thumb only) and will hum quietly against my chest. almost like he is purring. Funny. The thumb of course is his soother but it is also an indicator for a lot of other things. If he is hungry it goes in and he tugs on his shirt with his right hand. It's also an indicator of being tired or unnerved. It's such a comfort thing for him and truly has been a blessing since he can soothe himself so we aren't frantically searching for a binky.
The little monster also has graduated to the big tub. He doesn't quite fit in the sink anymore. Darn it. I kind of pushed that as far as I possibly could because it was OH.SO. much easier. Especially on my back-it's not like he is a light weight. But he seems to enjoy the tub. He crawls around chasing the rubber duckies. He also tries to climb out and I end up getting just as wet as he does. It's a fiasco usually but I just love a good smelling kid. And his hair still kinks up in curls so he looks extra cute coming out of a bath. The other day we put a little gel in it and gave him a fancy little do. He looked like a little man.
The crib has been officially lowered. If he wakes before I do he usually greets me in the morning standing up holding onto the sides grinning from ear to ear. He loves to bounce up and down on the mattress singing away. He also will do circles from side to side just to see the room from different vantage points; exploring the wall and the little fishes that are pinned up above his crib. I played a game with him the other day where I would put a toy on the opposite edge of the crib and he would scoot around the sides to get to his toy. He would grab it and lift it up in the air with a huge grin- like a little trophy. It killed me. So smart. Unfortunately with him being able to stand up in his crib he has realized that the railing is a really "good" teether. Uh huh! The entire front rail has bite marks and crevasses from his little daggers. Since his crib is black the marks are very noticeable so I have temporarily taken a sharpie to the marks to hide the divots until he stops and I can sand and repaint the edge. Stinker!
Fynn loves to sing and babble. I think his heredity is coming out a bit as he sounds like he is speaking in German half the time. It's really funny. He gets very serious and will talk in full sentences. I just wish I knew what he was saying. He definitely has a lot to say. The best is his giggling. The belly laughs are what I look forward to the most. Jeremiah is a champ at getting him to giggle hard. He rubs his head into his tummy and Fynn will slap at him laughing these huge belly laughs. I love it. He also really likes the dog, Lilly. He sees her coming and will laugh at her as she passes by. I think they will become best buddies as soon as Fynn gets a little older. It will be great!
The kid just brings so much joy into our lives. It's hard to imagine what life was like without him. Boring I would venture to guess. He makes everyday a new adventure. I am always excited to see the new things he is going to explore and learn. He's like a little sponge just soaking in everything. Awesome. Purely awesome. My heart aches with love when I look at him and I am brought to tears just thinking about how much I love and adore this little munchkin. What a miracle he is. Gods work is so great!
This year has flown by. I am in complete denial that I almost have a one year old. Such a blessing. Of course there are those days where I think "what have I gotten myself into" but then he looks at me with those big dark eyes and I melt.
I love you love bug-from your head to your toes. Always! Mama
